After reading 'Stylist' Magazine's article yesterday about junk food being significantly linked to the blues (as highly as 51%) - it prompted me to share this info with you also...
Some think the mind is a separate entity to the body, but in fact it's the exact opposite. As well as the thoughts or mind frame we adopt, the food we consume also affects our body. Research has shown that what we eat determines our mood and if you or someone around you doesn't feel their best a lot of the time or is suffering from depression a good long critical look at their/your diet is a must.
Lack of & Deficiencies in the following vitamins and nutrients have all been linked to depression or mental health:-
* Vitamin C - Depression
* B6 - Depression, poor memory, stress, irritability
* B3 - Depression, stress
* B12 Poor memory, confusion
* Folic Acid - Anxiety, depression
* Magnesium - Anxiety, depression, irritability, stress, insomnia
* Omega3 - Depression, poor memory
So let's have a look at the foods that eliminate the problem and can provide optimal health ;-
*Oranges and Strawberries - Provides vitamin C
*Chicken, Salmon, Tuna - Provides B12 & Omega 3
*Natural yogurts, Eggs - Proves B12
*Spinach - Provides Folic Acid
*Peppers - Provides B6, B3, vitamin C and Magnesium
*Broccoli - Provides B3, B6 & Magnesium
*Porridge - Provides B3 & B6
*Brown Rice - Provides B3 & B6
So next time we are at the supermarket, let's really think about what we are putting into our trolley, not only those who may be a little blue, all of us ... fatty foods and processed foods are danger signs for our body. Nutrition is the way forward - Fabulous minds and fabulous bodies ;-)

Hi! Can you find out if it says anything about cancelling out the good you with bad food? I eat all the things you said and have a very varied healthy diet, however on top of it I eat biscuits and chocolate! Are all the good nutrients wasted because I eat other bad things? hope not!!!! Xxxx
ReplyDeleteyes, Unfortunately Bexy - treats like biscuits, cakes, doughnuts, ice-cream should be kept to once or twice a week, one small portion (two scoops of ice cream would be one). Refined Sugar affects our body massively and all the junk we eat has soo much in it! It's a strong acid along with sodas, white bread and alcohol. It does really takes some discipline to get your treats down to once or twice a week.. I know I am struggling xoxo
