Thrifty and Fabulous

Beauty tips that don't have you saying 'I can't I'm broke'....

  • Eye lashes you're first, so perk up... castor oils got the mojo. The power to seduce you into lushious shape! Wash an old mascara wand thoroughly and soak it in boiled salt water to make sure it's really clean, then every day use it as your applicator to dip into your castor oil bottle applying a light coating before bed. You'll see results of longer, thicker and healthier lashes in roughly 4 weeks, it's a good tip to sustain and not give up.
  • Absolutely wear Sun protection everyday with and UVA & UVB protection in it also. If you want healthy skin to a ripe old age, with minimal wrinkles this is the first and foremost most important beauty secret. (Even if you already have wrinkles but want to start looking after your skin and reversing some of the damage) The trick is finding a good one at Spf 30 or higher (everyday wear is a must even in winter because the UV rays emitted through the clouds, are at times more powerful then just the sun) This knowledge comes from my great friend Mrs D... an  Aesthetician  who is 42 and looks 15 years younger then her age! Skinceuticals make a great one - Ultimate UV Defense SPF 30, it's roughly £25 & you can read reviews here

  • Olay also has a great one, Olay complete spf 30 UV defence moisturiser, which ranges from £12 upwards depending on where you buy it online (I suggest buying certain things online - like beauty products because you won't believe how much you are being ripped off in store for exactly the same product!). These can be applied ontop of your normal moisturiser and absorb so easily without the pale ghostly look and more importantly without the grease.
  • Almond oil... an intense natural body moisturiser, keeps your skin glowing and supple.
  • Try Soaking green tea teabags for minute or so, just by making a tea and lay down with a few dotted over your face. Great antioxidant skin benefits (then don't waste the tea you've made-drink it!)
  • Exfoliate your lips with sugar and honey or sugar and olive oil once a week, the honey option mixed with a bit of lemon will lighten your lips naturally if you re lips have become discolored from smoking or the sun.
  • Veet wax strips. Oh my gosh... what a great product! Easy waxing with salon results. You DIY and your legs will happily stay hair free for up to 3 weeks. If you have the budget you could invest  in an epilator which is a device that also pulls hair from the roots for again long lasting hair free legs
  • Always have a lip-seal to hand... ( you never know what you may need puckering up for, and chapped lips just won't do).... Vaselines Rosy Stick is absolutely amazing, you can be barefaced and wear it and your face looks fresh and alive. Its roughly £3 you can buy it in Superdrug or online, you can also dab some on your cheeks for the same rosy tint of colour. It's a must I keep one in every room!
  • Nails: Invest in a nail buffer, a pharmacy one will do, it doesn't have to come from Jessica. File your nails into a shape that suits your hand generally square or rounded, no funny shapes... smooth and buff them with the stages on your buffer.
  • Lemons- Cut one open and dig your nails into it, immerse them in the pulp of it for ten minutes, watch something good so you're not tempted to take them out too soon.
  • Use solar oil on your cuticles afterwards and massage into nails. your nails will look groomed, and be healthy and stronger in no time. Use solar oil every day and lemon once a week, easy natural manicured nails...
